Four and a half thousand meters of current nets were seized from Sartar Ghat, one of the natural fish breeding grounds of the subcontinent and from the Sartar Ghat of the Bangabandhu Fisheries Halda River to the mouth of Kalurghat Halda. Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Ruhul Amin led the mobile court from noon to evening on Thursday. As the egg-laying season is ahead, the upazila administration has been conducting regular campaigns against sand extraction, current nets and killing of mother fish.

উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার মোহাম্মদ রুহুল আমীন বলেন, আগামী এপ্রিল থেকেই হালদায় ডিম ছাড়ার মৌসুম শুরু হবে। এখন থেকেই যদি নদীর মা মাছকে বিরক্ত করা হয়, মা মাছ নিধনে জাল বসানো হয়, তাহলে আশানুরূপ ডিম পাওয়া যাবে না। তাই হালদা নদীর মা মাছকে নিরাপদে রাখতে নিয়মিত অভিযান পরিচালনা করা হচ্ছে। তবে দুঃখ ও পরিতাপের বিষয়, যখনই অভিযান পরিচালিত হয় তখনই কারেন্ট জাল কিংবা অবৈধভাবে বালি উত্তোলনে ব্যবহৃত ইঞ্জিনচালিত বোট জব্দ করা হয়। প্রতিনিয়তই প্রাকৃতিক এ সম্পদকে অত্যাচার করা হয়। এটি কোনোভাবেই মানা যায় না। তাই হালদার মৎস্য প্রজনন নিরাপদ রাখতে নিয়মিত অভিযান অব্যাহত থাকবে।
